Nancy Lyon has been creating beautiful scrimshaw since 1976.She majored in Fine Arts at Southeastern Massachusetts University and demonstrated the art of
scrimshanding in a Main Street, Hyannis store during the summers of her college years.Her desire to incorporate other influences led to a trip to Bellingham,Washington where she studied under renowned West Coast scrimshander, Kelly Mulford. As Nancy’s skill and reputation have grown, she has been featured on several television programs and in the book of American scrimshanders,
“The Second Scrimshaw Connection”. Her work has been offered at the Mystic Seaport Museum Gift shop, Boston Science Museum Gift shop and several other fine stores and galleries throughout Cape Cod and Nantucket.Most recently Nancy has opened her own Gallery located at 349 Main St., Hyannis Ma., called Black Whale Gallery where her work and that of many other fine artisans can be found.Nancy is a juried member of the
Artisans Guild Cape Cod and
The Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen.
