About Amy Addison

Amy F. Addison 1894-1976

My great Aunt Amy was an Artist who lived on the North Shore in the 1920′s,her specialty was printmaking and gold leaf furniture. When she died in 1976 she left behind her photo album which she had used as a reference guide for her etchings. That was the year I first decided to try my hand at scrimshaw ,I also started using her photographs as a reference for my nautical scrimshaw pieces.Over the years the photos started to fade and yellow and I began my search for someone who could do restoration work to save them.

In 2009 I met a woman Roberta Anslow who thought it would be a very interesting project and agreed to take on the job of restoring over 150 photographs, thus the “Addison Collection” project was started. To date we have restored about 30% of the photos which are now for sale on my website and in my store,”Black Whale Gallery”.Keep checking the website for new additions as we continue the restoration process and add them to our site.
